I stumbled upon this incredible find last night on IndieGames.com and felt it important enough to share. You see that picture up there? That’s a picture of French Rices Games’ Survivors of Ragnarok. Looks interesting, doesn’t it? Know what makes it even more interesting? It’s basically a 2D side-scrolling Dwarf Fortress. With graphics. And if you don’t know what Dwarf Fortress is, I suggest you educate yourself.
I did not know this game was in the works, but now that I do I’m totally obsessing over it. Which kind of sucks because I’m having a bit of a hiccup getting the Mac version to work. So no, I haven’t actually played this game I’m recommending, but I have played Dwarf Fortress and I think that’s more than enough to go by. There’s a free version available to PC users on this page, but it does require installing Desura (a Steam-like games portal/download client). Actually, installing the PC version in general requires Desura. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s worth knowing about.
Anyway, I’ll give this game some more love once I can actually play it and give hands-on impressions, but if anyone wants to try it out for themselves feel free to let me know what you think.
